Digital signature

A digital signature is the IT equivalent of a traditional handwritten signature and has the following characteristics:

  • authenticity: a digital signature guarantees the identity of the signer
  • integrity: a digital signature ensures that the document has not been changed after it has been signed
  • non-repudiation: a digital signature confers full legal validity to the document, therefore the document cannot be disclaimed by the signer

The Scuola Normale in agreement with Infocert provides digital signature devices with smart cards and remote signature and web recognition service.

The Digital Strategies Area provides technical support for the activation and use of the signature by institutional figures who need this functionality.
