Google Groups

Groups such as project teams, departments, or classmates can communicate and collaborate using Google Groups. If you want to invite a group to an event, or share documents with a group, you can send a single email to everyone in the group. You can also create an online forum to discuss a popular technology or answer questions about a product.
 

How do you access Google Groups?

Either visit https://groups.google.com or click the apps chooser (grid icon) on the top of any Google page. Once on the Groups page, click the My Groups button.
 

Create a group

  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. In the upper left corner, click Create group.
  3. Enter information and choose settings for the group. Yoi can find all info at Settings reference page
  4. Click Create group.
    Wait a few minutes for your new group to become active before sending a message to it. Otherwise, you might get a notification that your message couldn't be delivered.

Using new Groups
  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. To search for groups:
    1. In the left panel, choose My groups, Recent groups, All groups, or Favorite groups.
    2. To find groups you own, groups inside or outside your organization, or groups you recently joined, click in the search field, then select an option.
    3. To specify additional search criteria, click Advanced Search, then enter your search criteria in the search field.
    4. Click Search.

Join a new group

Using new Groups
  1. Sign in to Google Groups.
  2. Click All groups and find the group that you want to join.
  3. Click Join group. Note: If you don't see the "Ask to join group" option, you can email the group and ask to join it.
  4. If you want to link or unlink your Google profile, choose an option:
    • Uncheck the box if you don't want people to view your Google profile. You can also enter a different display name for people to see.
    • Check the box if you want people to view your Google profile.
  5. In the Subscription section, choose how often you want email updates from the group:
    • Every new message
    • Daily summaries
    • Combined updates
    • Don't send email updates
  6. Click Join group
