Esse3: Administrative and Academic Services

Esse3 is the Cineca IT platform dedicated to the comprehensive management of university student records. Used by numerous Italian universities, it enables students, faculty, and administrative staff to access key academic and administrative services via a single web portal. From enrollment to graduation, Esse3 supports the entire academic journey with integrated, online-accessible tools.

Access to the system is available to:

• Students and faculty using their university account.
• Technical and administrative staff using a personal administrative account distinct from their university account.

• For students:
  • Degree program registration and enrollment procedure management.
  • Creation and modification of study plans.
  • Registration for exam sessions and viewing of results.
  • Access to digital certificates and self-declarations.
  • Viewing of complete academic records.
  • Access to online Student Office functions.
  • Viewing of academic history (checking the student record book).
  • Completion of teaching evaluation questionnaires.
  • Applications for international mobility programs.
• For faculty:
  • Recording of exam results.
  • Management of study plans.
  • Creation and management of exam sessions.
  • Management of exam schedules.
  • Electronic recording of grades.
  • Access to teaching data and lists of enrolled students.
• For student offices and administration:
  • Centralized management of student records (enrollment, transfers, course changes, graduations).
  • Coordination of academic offerings and teaching calendars.
  • Generation of reports and statistics to support planning and monitoring activities.

Requirements

Access via web browser is available to all users.

Technical and administrative staff, due to their specific functional requirements, also have the option to access the system via the Citrix application.

The access requirements are therefore:

• For students and faculty:
  • Institutional credentials (SNS) to access the portal.
  • Internet connection via an up-to-date browser.
• For technical and administrative staff:
  • Assignment of a Terminal Server account by the Help Desk.
  • Creation of an administrative account by the Help Desk: each user sees only the sections relevant to their specific department or office.
  • Installation and configuration of Citrix on their PC (if accessing via Citrix).

Get started

• For students and faculty:
  • Go to the University’s Esse3 portal: https://sns.esse3.cineca.it.
  • Log in using your SNS credentials.
• For technical and administrative staff:
  • Request Esse3 access authorization from the Help Desk.
  • Request a Terminal Server account from the Help Desk.
  • You will receive an email containing the link to access the service and a temporary password, which must be changed upon first login.
  • Install and configure the Citrix application (if you wish to access via Citrix).
  • Connect to https://xenappweb.cineca.it (Web access) or https://xenapp.cineca.it (Citrix access).
  • Authenticate to the Cineca Terminal Server.
  • Click on “Esse 3 SNS“.
  • Log in using your Esse3 account.
