General ICT policies

The Scuola Normale Superiore's ICT General Policies are a document that defines the rules, services, and methods of use of the Scuola Normale Superiore's ICT infrastructure.

The main sections are:

  • Users and individual services: Defines who can access ICT services, user categories, and rules for assigning and disabling access.
  • Personal account: Describes the features of the institutional account, usage methods, security requirements, and authentication (including SPID where applicable).
  • E-mail: Regulates the use of email services, their duration, deactivation procedures, and specific cases (alumni, forwarding, inactivity).
  • Individual cloud storage space: Defines the assignment and use of personal cloud storage and the conditions for service deactivation.
  • Network: Describes access to the SNS network, including Wi-Fi for users and guests.
  • Eduroam, IDEM and VPN: Covers federated access services and remote connectivity to SNS resources.
  • Services: Provides a general overview of ICT service delivery and evolution.
  • Migration to cloud platforms: Describes the transition process of services toward cloud infrastructures.
  • Storage: Covers shared storage systems and backup services for data and applications.
  • Cloud services for research structures: Defines the use of cloud platforms for laboratories and research groups, including management responsibilities and security requirements.
  • Web Server: Describes hosting services and the management of institutional and research-related websites and applications.
  • GARR certificates: Covers the issuance and management of digital certificates through the GARR infrastructure.
  • Printing system: Defines the use of network printers and discourages the use of local devices.
  • Mailing lists: Classifies and regulates distribution lists and their usage.
  • Security: Establishes rules for protecting the ICT infrastructure and prohibits risky activities.
  • Disaster Recovery: Describes business continuity measures for critical services.
  • Hardware and Software: Defines rules for the use, acquisition, and management of devices and applications.
  • Support: Specifies responsibilities related to hardware and software support.
  • Loan of PCs and devices for remote work: Regulates the temporary assignment of devices and their conditions of use.
  • HelpDesk: Describes the user support service and request management procedures.
  • Scientific computing: Presents services and infrastructures for advanced computing and research activities.
  • Terms and conditions of use: Defines the rules for using ICT services and user responsibilities.
  • Service assignment table by user category: Details the services available to each user category and their duration.
  • User categories list: Provides a detailed classification of the different types of SNS users.
