University licences for artificial intelligence services

SNS provides institutional licences for the use of generative artificial intelligence services.

All SNS users, including students, faculty and technical-administrative staff, can use Google Gemini and Microsoft Copilot under the School’s Google Workspace for Education and Microsoft 365 Education licences.

ChatGPT Edu is also available to faculty and researchers under an agreement between CRUI and OpenAI. Access must be requested and authorised.

For institutional activities, particularly when using School data or information, it is important to access these services through University licences. This allows users to work within SNS institutional accounts and agreements, with a higher level of data protection and security than personal free accounts.

Get started

To use Google Gemini, sign in to SNS Google services with the University credentials.
Open Gemini from the Google Apps panel or go to https://gemini.google.com/.
To use Microsoft Copilot, sign in to Microsoft 365 with the University credentials.
Open Copilot from the Microsoft 365 home page.
To use ChatGPT Edu, request access by writing to helpdesk@sns.it or by contacting the Infrastructure Service directly, providing the reason for the request.
Once authorised, access the standard ChatGPT portal using the SNS account.
If using the Google sign-in option, authenticate with the SNS Google account.

FAQ

Sign-in problems may occur if your institutional address in the form name.surname@sns.it has already been used to register a personal account on the free version of the platform.

In this case, contact helpdesk@sns.it, describe the problem and ask for the licence to be activated using an alias of your institutional address, typically in the form n.surname@sns.it.

No. Registering independently for the free version of an artificial intelligence platform using an @sns.it address does not provide access to the EDU licence made available by the University.

To use the institutional licence, you must access the platform through the sign-in procedure provided for SNS users and authenticate with your University credentials. Simply entering your SNS email address during a standard registration process does not automatically associate the account with the EDU licence.
