The new ICT portal of the Scuola Normale Superiore brings together and organises in one place information on the digital services, applications and tools available to the different groups within the School community.

Users can consult guides and practical instructions, find out how to access services, and identify the appropriate support channels more quickly. The new structure and organisation of the content have been designed to make navigation simpler and more intuitive, helping users find information more easily and providing a clearer overview of the School’s IT services.

The portal has been designed following the guidelines and design principles promoted by Designers Italia and uses the Bootstrap Italia libraries, helping ensure consistency with the design system adopted for Italian public administration websites and digital services.

The portal has also been developed as an open project with reuse in mind. The WordPress theme created for the site, Design ICT Site, has been released as open-source software and made available through the Developers Italia catalogue, so that it can also be reused and adapted by other Italian public administrations. The project therefore follows an approach that, wherever possible, promotes the sharing of internally developed solutions and collaboration within the public-sector digital ecosystem.

The portal will also evolve by introducing new tools to support users. In particular, the release of an AI-based chatbot is planned, built using Cheshire Cat AI, an Italian open-source project for developing conversational assistants. The chatbot will be integrated with the portal’s content and documentation and will help users identify the most relevant information, guides and services based on their requests, complementing the existing support channels.

The portal will be progressively updated with new content, guides and further information, alongside the ongoing development of the School’s digital services and the tools available to its community.
